National Education Programme and student organisations

The Dutch government has allocated funds to educational institutions to repair corona deficiencies among students. These concern both academic and social disadvantages. This is called the National Education Programme (Nationaal Programma Onderwijs, NPO). At Utrecht University, it is the explicit intention to actively involve (students and) student organisations in spending this money. Below you will find an overview of how this will be done:

Contribute to the National Education Programme

  • During the year, several brainstorming sessions with students will take place. The next brainstorming session is on 19 May 2022. The idea is to collect as many ideas from students as we possibly can and to see which ones we can make more concrete. If you want to take part in this meeting, please send us an email.
  • Do you have a brilliant new idea that will help us to help as many students as possible? Submit your idea via this link. We have also places letterboxes in various UU-buildings where you can send in your idea via a QR code.
  • There will be a new venue (living room) for students at the Utrecht Science Park. Would you like to be part of the Student Committee that will help shape the programme of activities for this living room? Please send your CV and short motivation letter to Iris Nieuwenhuizen via You can also email her for more information.
  • The NPO team will try to link up as much as possible with various existing councils, such as the meeting of the umbrella organisations with the educational institutions and the meetings of the assessors. Would you like to invite us to your own association meeting? Please contact us.

  • All recognised UU student organisations can receive a contribution in 2021-2022 to spend on activities that will help eliminate corona-delays. You can read how to apply for this amount on this page.
  • Student organisations that are going to organise more activities that fit within the NPO programme and have already used the money mentioned at the previous bullet point, can submit another request via the UU website.
