When you submit your individual application for an officer/rep bursary digitally via OSIRIS-Zaak, you can indicate whether you want to do your board year without tuition fees and which variant you want: old-style or new-style. In order to provide full-time student governors with clarity as to whether or not they are eligible for the tuition fee-free facility, old or new style, before 1 September 2023, these applications will be given priority.
You should therefore apply for tuition fee-free board year in good time (but not later than 1 October 2024). Please note that you will not be able to make retroactive arrangements for matters such as (re)enrolment, study funding and applying for a student public transport chipcard if it turns out that you are not eligible for option 2 (old-style tuition fee-free board year).
What do you need to do as a student for tuition fee-free board year old-style (option 1)?
You must arrange the following matters yourself before 1 September 2024:
- Do not activate or cancel re-enrolment for academic year 2024-2025.
- Stop the study financing with effect form 1-9-2024
- Stop the student public transport chip card per 1-9-2024
- Download an agreement with the educational institution in OSIRIS-Zaak, sign it and upload it within three weeks in OSIRIS-Zaak. You will find this agreement in OSIRIS-Zaak if you have indicated that you want old-style tuition fees-free enrolment.
What do you have to do as a student for new-style tuition fee-free board year (option 2)?
You must arrange the following matters yourself before 1 September 2024:
- Activate the (re)enrolment for your first bachelor or master for academic year 2024-2025.
- You deregister (yourself or via the Student Desk) for all components in 2024-2025. Some courses automatically place you in components or, for example, mentor groups.
- Do issue the authorization for payment of tuition fees. The authorization for tuition fees will only be withdrawn after the Executive Board has approved your application. If you have already paid an installment of the tuition fees in the meantime, you will get this back.
- Have your student grant continue as of 01-09-2024. This is one of the conditions for getting a board grant.
- Continue to use the Student OV-chipkaart per 01-09-2024. It is a big misconception that by just canceling the Student OV chip card you save your months of Student OV chip card for a period after your board year.
When applying for a board grant in the OSIRIS case, indicate that you want a new-style board that is tuition-free. You must then submit the application for board grant. If this is approved, you will be notified by e-mail and the authorization for payment of tuition fees will be set at € 0 by UU.
